Some South Bay residents look beyond the borders of the South Bay to provide educational options that meet the special interests and/or talents of their student(s).
For those students that have a particular interest or skill level that revolves around the arts and sciences, the choice to commute to Crossroads school in Santa Monica becomes an option, while those with students possessing competitive talents within the arts and music programs will sometimes opt to attend OCSA in Santa Ana. Gifted students seeking challenging sports programs may opt to attend St. John Bosco or Loyola High.
Most of these schools require an application process which may include family interviews and sometimes auditions. Some of the schools offer bus options in and out of the South Bay while getting to and from other schools requires a carpool schedule amongst local families.
