HONORING OUR VETERANS TODAY AND EVERY DAYHonoring our veterans is our duty as Americans and our honor as friends and neighbors . . . It’s Veteran’s Day and we’d like to take a moment to thank those who have served our country in order to preserve our safety, our freedom and our way of life. It is no small thing to dedicate one’s life to the service of others, and we at Caskey & Caskey respectfully honor that commitment today and every day. I often think about where we live and how fortunate we are to be able to make a good living for our family, provide excellent education for our sons and raise our family in one of the most beautiful places in the country. There is not a day that goes by that I am not grateful for the opportunities set before me and the benefits that have come from those opportunities. We are beyond fortunate to be living in a country where opportunity abounds and is protected by the best military programs globally. This is why my wife and I are so dedicated to supporting our community and important causes like those that directly benefit our nation’s heroes. Jennifer and I have had the good fortune to become good friends with a former Navy SEAL, Duke Harbin, who founded the Navy SEAL Fund. Through Duke, we have become aware of former Navy SEALs/families in need of assistance as a result of injury, loss of life, transition needs, or some of life’s unexpected events. Everyone knows that the SEALs are an elite division of the military that only a handful of the nation’s best every qualify for. What many might not know is that due to recent budget cuts in the military, many men and women are in a position to be working through extended tours of duty where a higher rate of PTSD is naturally a result of prolonged exposure to very extreme situations. Upon return to the civilian sector, many SEALs come home to difficulties with transitioning into civilian jobs, many of which are scarce in certain parts of the country; a higher stress level, which leads sometimes to marriage and family problems, physical and emotional disabilities as well as other crippling events that can paralyze a whole family. The Navy SEAL Fund steps in to help ease temporary financial burdens, bridge the gap in obtaining important support both emotionally and physically, provide access to important programs that help return the veteran and/or the family to a state of balance, and also provide very important legal assistance as well when needed. When Jennifer and I learned of this program, we were immediately compelled to get involved and we have been dedicated to supporting the Navy SEAL Fund now for several years. There is a huge unmet need to fill the gaps in resources for the veterans, those in active duty, and their families here at home (spouses, children, parents…); our family considers it an honor and a privilege to be able to reach out and directly impact the lives of these special veterans. What makes this program special is that the Navy SEALs Fund is a small non-profit, developed and operated by retired Navy SEALs. They are  able to respond quickly to urgent and unique needs, usually with just a phone call. No red tape and bureaucratic road blocks get in the way of offering immediate assistance targeted to each special case. They also provide invaluable legal assistance for all branches of the military for combat related charges and even post-military cases where the Integrity of the Veteran or Uniform is being defended. Often times a small amount goes a long way. If you or someone you know is in need of assistance from the Navy SEAL Fund, please START HERE with the Request For Assistance Form. On this veterans day, we would like to honor our veterans by drawing attention to this very special organization and ask our friends and neighbors who have the good fortune to live in peace in this great country of ours to consider making a donation to ensure the ongoing success of this important cause.
